Were you a "Distracted S2000?"

Sorry, couldn't resist.

You can get a pre-painted bumper cover from Honda for ~$300.

Google "majestic honda."
Then wait around for a part out thread or PM "davgoat" and ask for a replacement beam.

thats the actual bumper thats bent. it's meant to crumple and it's meant to be easily replaceable.

i would consider what you got as a "minor" accident. not worth filling a claim and causing your rates to go up. even if the initial cost to repair is like $200 more then the deductable, it'll save you money in the long run.

Thats usually what happens when you slam on the brakes on a dry, clean road.

even though you hit the truck isn't his insurance liable because he is operating a vehicle without working brake lights?? what did the police say about that?

they're both at fault.. the truck driver for having dead brake lights and the OP, because he failed to control his car, causing a the accident.

My take, fix it out of pocket if it's not too much because the claim will be considered an AT FAULT accident.. save u $$ in the long run..

just a thought, wouldnt the guy in the truck be at fault since he have no break lights? i know that if you hit the guy from the back you are automaticly be at fault.

I think you can but the bumper support(the metal beam) and replace it. I would do all the repair through insurance since u only have 500 deductable, brand new bumper is already $250, unless you have a friend in a paint shop that would give you a great deal on paint.

Hope your car will be fixed soon, and im glad that you are ok.

Sucks man... but it looks like you got luck with the damage there.

And no matter if the other person's brakes lights work or not, if there is an accident, anything kind of indicator lights not working means nothing.

This is why people say say to never trust a turn signal. I wait for the other car to physically slow down and start making the turn before I turn in front of them (if that make any sense).
