yeah, i had always heard that vipers had terrible handling, but i guess people just say things cause they dont like the car. thats the first time that i had heard that they handle well, and better than the S! never would have thought that.

I loved it when I heard this when I had the Viper "Your car is great in the straights but I will take you in the corners".. That coming from an Integra Driver.. hahahahaha.. I always said let's go out for a drive and I would scar them for life. hahaha.. The Corvette is another car that handles well. I am strictly talking about the C5 ones. They are great all around cars. Another one up for the domestic cars. There are a few other domestic cars that are worth it but all in all, most of them are crap for performance. It is much easier to get the Euro or Japanese cars to handle better. That is why the Performance Market relies on those cars. Try to get HID projectors for a Camaro (Camaro used because of High Production Numbers.) Not going to happen easily.. But you can find them for ALL the MY Civics.. See what I mean about the market?

I am very impressed with the handling of the MR2. Two of them attend our local SCCA autocrosses and do very well. The Turbo is up against the S2000s. The MR2 turbo comes in second behind the similarly set-up S2000 (Hoosiers, Bar) but beats all of us S2000s on stock tires easily. It is a two driver car and both drivers beat the S2000s on stock tires. It only looses to the set-up S2000s by a second or less.

cornfish, i did think about the C5 after i said that but really i dont think the performance nearly makes up for the price so i didnt put it in there.

You know, the first time I ever saw an S2000 was in the Bay Area. I was driving and some JackAs$ in a Silver S2000 decided that his car was super fast in the turns and passed me in a turn at a light. He goes spinning violently into the curb. That was one of the funniest things I have ever seen. It was down by the Mercado Movie theater. Anyway, funny that I am driving one now and loving every minute of it. You know, my buddy drove my S last month in LA and he swears up and down that he likes it 100% more than the Viper. He said it is just more fun. I agree..

Ok, the S may have snap oversteer, but it is definitely not as bad as the MR2. I've owned both cars. I've taken both to several race tracks. I'm fairly confidant the S2000 is a much easier car to drive.

That doesn't mean that it handles better, really. But realistically this is the guy's FIRST CAR. Hell, most people who drive all their lives have never taken a car to ten-tenths and have never seen a race track in person! The MR2, in stock form, has a much greater tendency to oversteer than the S2000. That's the CAR, not the driver. The driver will drive it so that it doesn't spin, but the car itself is easier to spin than the S2000. Don't believe me? Try spinning a Civic.

If you are interested in handling then the MR2 can be made to handle well. If you are interested in a fast track car, the MR2 has a long way to go.

Also, maybe you don't consider this handling, but the steering wheel feel on the MR2 sucks really bad if you have power steering. Many turbo models came with it. It sucks. Don't get power steering. Trust me. The steering wheel is also big compared to the S2000.

By the time your MR2 starts looking and handling really well, you'll still be making monthly payments on repairs.
