The only MR2 I ever drove was a 1991 turbo with no power steering. I was only test-driving it and it was about six years ago so I couldn't comment on the MR2's oversteer really, so I'll take your word on it.

utahskyliner34, during that test-drive, I did notice a 1-2 grind, squeaks and rattles, interior quality issues, and T-tops that didn't fit well...and that was a six year old car. So although it has serious performance potential you could get hit in the wallet pretty hard for major fixes down the road.

BTW, if you're interested in handling, I've got a nice little red number in my basement that handles like a go-cart.

I am selling my 91 MR2t for an S2000. I actually bought my TOMs side skirts from Min If you have the suspension setup done correctly and atleast 245's on the back, an MR2 is one of the best handling cars you will ever drive. Mine has only tried to step out on me once and it was my fault, I shifted in the middle of a right turn when the tires were cold. I kept it under control and didnt spin. The earlier suspension was setup for the true enthusiast but was revised in 93 because people suck at driving.

i planned on getting some suspension work done. really i planned on getting some everything work done so most stuff that might be messed up on it could be fixed with my mods. plus i was hoping on getting a 93 so the suspension should be pretty nice.

any used car will require maintenance and repair. Unfortunately, the MR2 is an older used car (newest being 1995) that had a turbo and an engine bay that is way to hard to get to (roof, trunk, and b-pillar panels block all access to the engine). Working on the car, you will have lower back problems! The S2000 engine is actually set so far in that is it a bit of a pain to work on as well. Luckily, you don't need to work on them much, if at all.

Seems like many MR2 owners are joining the dark side!

That is so true Min....to pull the motor, you cant just pull it from teh top with a cherry picker. You actually have to use the cherry picker to hoist the car and drop the motor from the bottom. Then imagine in order to do the timing belt, you have to drop the motor to get it done right. It is easier that way. I would seriously reccoment getting an N/A to start off with or a non-modded turbo and get used to it before you start playing.

Modifying a turbo isnt an easy thing. Trust me. I was on my 3rd or 4th...(not sure, kinda lost count) rebuild. I have put over $35k in the MR2 and only able to drive it 3 months 3500 miles tops. All that in 2 years!!! I could have bought an S with that $$. Which is why I am parting it out and buying the S
