Default hardtop install question

So i installed the hardware for the hardtop today everything looks in order, then i tried putting the top on and it fits on the passenger side but the pin on the hardtop on the drivers side is not alligned with the catcher... What am i doing wrong??? Also are the soft top latches (when top is down) supposed to connect the back of the hard top to secure it?

It should fit perfectly. When I installed my HT, it seemed not to align properly, but when I checked closely, it turned out that one of the pins was not in the catcher properly. That's what you need to double-check, else you can damage it and for sure, you won't be able to get the final clearances correct.

And no, the soft top does not attach to the hardtop.

What I did was first put the pins in the rear catchers. Then I loosened the bolts on the rear to make sure the clearance between the hardtop and the front of the rear quarter panel was good. Then I pushed the lever back and secured it down. Then the last step was to latch the front. Always worked well for me (during initial install and every time I remove/replace it).

Where exactly? The top/front/windshielf area? Or the side windows? Can you see a space where air can flow through?

its in the bottom left corner of the drivers side window where the stripping meets glass, i don't see a space and no water is getting in so i guess its ok. Is there anyway to tighten the hardtop on the car, i keep getting a lot of noise over bumps

Humm.. wish you would hav ejourneyed down to Fredericksburg VA this AM ...... Hardtopguy was here installing a top for TubeDriver. Although I didn't get a top, I watched and learned alot

1) .... With the top off loosen the nuts on the on the rear catchers. With a friend carry the top and set it in the rear catchers and then the front catchers, engage the catchers and then tighten the nuts on the rear catchers. It should install better the next time .....
2) .... You need to use Shin-Etsu Grease on all of the gaskets.
3) .... the front corners may need a rubber mallet put to them to obtain a better seal. Its hard to explain in the post ... but roll the window down, set the car/top in the sun and warm up the metal/paint. Give each corner a soft blow .....

Or come to WTD and let Hardtopguy look at it ......
