Default Hardtop install question for my S2K...

I'm sure this has been covered a million times and i'm sorry for posting this question again, but the search feature won't work for me for some reason..

Anyways I have an 01 s2K and I have a hardtop for it. Just wondering if I took the catchers and strikers both off a 2003 s2000 which had a hardtop on it, would they work fine on my car???

Thanks in advance, any info is greatly appreciated.

Yes it will work. That's exactly what I did. If you get the rear catchers from it, it will install. However, it WONT enable the defroster, as our cars have no button for it up front like they did in 2003.

Thanks for the info.

As far as the defroster, what do I need to make this work? I got the hardtop with no installation pieces, and i'm not too aware on what I need idealy?

You would need the rest of the defroster stuff that comes with the hardtop kit... relay.. wiring.. button..

If you plan to use the defroster.. you might as well just buy the hardtop kit since its only about a $100 diff from the striker/catcher price...

Unless of course you get the used ones for cheap

You may also need the trim pieces that have those "brushes" on them. With the HT pins, the existing trim pieces may impede their positioning. The defroster button must have the button holder, which is a replacement for the coin holder.

Yea the kit does come with the new brushes... however I (personally) jus took off the existing brushes since I didn't get the new ones and just installed it. I've never had a problem with the hard/softtop.. so i don't think its necessarily required... but always good to have it
