I was under the impression that the 2001 s2ks did not require fabrication or modification for install? So things have to be replaced? And I'm assuming softtop stays in place and works the same as before?

The soft top stays lowered when the hard top is on. Guys with the older S2s generally need an additional kit for their hard top.

I called the Honda place and asked about install time and they said the book was what they go by. It didn't matter how long it actually takes. They woud even sighn a contract for the final price. Does anyone see any holes in that?

The early MYS2000s require an additional kit which I think provides some wiring. The MY2001s and after about midyear MY2000 don't need this.

All the hardtop installations require removing the latches in front and numerous other pieces and replacing them.

There is also some hammering to reshape a couple of S2000 spots. (ouch).

The softtop stays in place and works the same as before.

I think the book says 3 hours, perhaps 2.5.

That sounds about right. Since mine had the extra kit, it would mean some extra time is involved.

My dealership took about 6 hours to install it but they didn't charge me and did a fantastic job!

This is interesting. I called FOUR dealers around here and not one had installed a top. Plus they would not give a firm quote for the installation. One said you couldn't get the top until August and another said you couldn't get it as a separate item!! But I do believe Bullet is getting ripped. After about $400 bucks, it gets to be worth my time. Thats why I ordered it on the group buy. We shall see.
