Update for sireousrex::

The rear window got tinted today with 15% 3M charcoal tint and it has no metallic hazyness, it matches my side windows perfectly.

nice steal...i am sort of in a similar situation. I got a FREE Spa hardtop with some minor hail damage from a family member. His hardtop was completely replaced by the insurance company after only 2,000 miles on the car. They let him keep the old HT. He was gonna use it for spare parts, but he found out I had an S2k and offered the thing to me for free. I'm paying about $800 for paintless dent removal and gonna paint the exterior and inside Berlina for my Silverstone. Only have $500 in it so far for the kit from hardtopguy (great service btw). I expect it will be about $1300 as well when all is said and done.

Can't beat your deal...but got pretty close! haha.

here is a "before" pic:

If you get it all for 1300 you beat mine. My final price with paint, install parts, and tint was 1420.

well i think the 15% tint to the rear window will put me in the $1400 range...not to mention misc. stuff like cusion tape, i have to go buy a center punch, etc...plus...yours didn't need bodywork....better deal even if slightly higher $$ amount.

You don't need a center punch if you don't have one. The metal is soft and a flat head will do the same work.

roger that...

I'm installing the HTG kit this week. looks pretty simple and straight-forward. Should be picking up the top at the end of this week and will post pics.

It's a piece of cake. Did you see my DIY on doing the kit?
