Update: Going for paint tomorrow. I hope they can do it same day or at least have it back to me late Wednesday. I highly doubt that will be the case though. Either way once it gets out of paint I have to get it tinted then I will whore some pictures.

And here it is. The total project cost me 1380 dollars for hardtop, hardware, and paint. I have attached a picture of the rear side bracket I used, the bottom is hidden, but it is only a single bolt attaching to the body. I definitely like this alternative compared to the factory side catchers which are overly expensive.

The only thing I have left to do is the 15% tint on the rear window to match the sides.

Looks good man! Any reason you didn't have the underside of the HT painted to match?

Nice grassroots effort.

Personally, I have no softtop, but could never bring myself to attach the hardtop as such. I enjoy driving top-off. Also, working on the interior of the car is way easier top-off than top-on.

Btw, if you bought the top from the previous owner, why didn't you just get the catchers from her?

bc she sold the car and took the hardtop off - its weird i know. Her husband was actually the driver of the s2k, but he flipped his firetruck and died (CRAZY). That is how I got it for so cheap. It is also easy to remove the top, I just have to pull off the side panel and unattach one bolt or pull the trim off the hardtop and remove three bolts. I didnt have the underside colormatched bc it is covered with the factory trim panels. I wasnt about to pay extra to get that done, seeing I am a broke college student haha.

Lookin' good man. I used the OEM mounting stuff, but I also removed my soft top and I doubt I will take the hard top off more than a handful of times every year. That is certainly an interesting way of attaching it though. Looks like the paint came out nice as well.

I couldn't wait to get mine tinted to match and had it done right away too. Let me know how your tint comes out though if you don't mind. I think mine looks a little metallic instead of plain black tint. I think it may be due to the way the rear glass is made though, so I want to see if you end up with the same problem before I go complain. thanks

You probably got a metallic tint instead of a flat charcoal tint. That was the case on my hatch. I am using the 3m charcoal 15% tint.

Yeah, that's what I am thinking, but I just wanted to see how yours comes out before I complain and get it re-done.
