removal of the soft top and motor to save weight (around 150 pounds)
No way does the soft top and motor assembly weigh 150 lb. More like 50 lb. I didn't weigh it, but I did carry it around when I took it out of my car.

Removing the soft top and replacing it with the hardtop does save some weight. But the difference is 10-20 lb, not over 100 like you imply here.

you can KEEP the soft top BUT you have to put it DOWN in order for the hardtop to fit. Take the hardtop off, then you can put the softop back up(but why would you do that )
so the soft top wont get damaged in the storage room. or will it be damege if its fold down for a long time???

Hope not, my HT has been on for about 10 months now.
I'll take the top off next spring for a few days and inspect/recondition the ST just to be sure.
If no problems in more than a year in the down mode, I wouldn't expect any problems in the future.
Perhaps the best test would be for drivers who continously drive on bumpy roads since this could bring out problems that most of us will never have.
Fingers crossed.
