Try a small piece of vinyl tube pushed on the hook for the latch.

It could be that the rear mounts are not adjusted properly and that's causing the problem.

I just fixed mine yesterday. Just tighten and add some lock tight on the 4 screws on the latch. You should be fine.

I had this issue in MY04. First I had to isolate the cause. When driving on rough roads, it would start rattling so I would reach over and pinpoint the noise within the latch. Ultimately, I brought it in to the dealership to have them correct it. Here's what they did from my understanding.

The outer plates inside the latch was the root cause and they placed (foam/weatherstrip) tape inside. Does not interfere with the operation and it's silent now.

It was driving me nuts too! The placebo affect of the car feeling more solid now when nothing is rattling.

Good luck!

I know this is what is causing mine - I have tightened the bolt a couple of times - just need to get around to loctiting it. I also need to shin-itsu the seals too to stop the squeaking
