Default Harrassment!

The other day i was driving home after going into town for a short cruise. Coming to a four way stop there were some fellows at a strip mall store staring at my car.

(I don't know about you guys but whenever someone's starin at my car i like to show off a little bit.)

Show as i pulled away i laid into it right before vtec and took it pretty high up, slow shifting into third. As i got down the hill a city police officer hauled ass right up on me and pulled me over.

As he approached i could tell that this guy was a dick so i just smiled cause i knew that he couldn't get me for anything. He took off his 'mount me' hat and said sarcastically, "Do i need to even tell you why i pulled you over!" as i replied with a smile, "Actually... yes you do." At this point his shades came off as he started to speak LOUDLY, "Taking off at an accelerated speed, driving dangerously-recklessly and speeding." I said, "I haven't violated any law! It took off fast? So my cars got power! I didn't; even bark my tires, and i don't see how my driving was reckless... there was no ne around me to endanger, and i didn't even get up past the speed limit!"

He said, "I was doing 50 and couldn't even catch you!" I just laughed has he snatched my insurance and reg. Handing them back to me he says, "I suggest if you don't want high insurance you better slow down!!" i said with a smart ass smirk, "I already have high insurance"

Good ole SouthCarolina cops

You were being a smartass and I would be careful doing such to a cop, even if you weren't doing anything illegal..
but i'm glad you were being a smartass. Sounds like he was a jerk.

Actually accelerating too fast, regardless of wether you break the limit or not is excessive disply of speed, and is against the law, it wasn't harrassment, it was just good luck for you he couldn't prove it.

Who's to be the judge what is too fast and whats not!? I got a reckless driving ticket in my hatchback for barking my tires! I know when, and when not to be a smart ass, and this time alowed for it. Most cops get a power trip telling people what they should and shouldn't do, so anytime i know i can get away with it, i will. I do volunteer work at the PD and am in pretty good with the police officers that have been around for while, so my back is watched.

Also, if he realized you were putting on a show for the local fellers, he could've gotten you for exhibition of speed. There's no speed limit associated with that one, and I believe it's a moving violation.

Maybe this comes from driving a lowered car around in Southern California for a long time, but in my book, any cop who lets me drive away from a traffic stop WITHOUT a ticket is not a dick.

You got lucky

The cop is to be the judge. It's called discretion.

But yeah, unless u peel out or do something over excessive most cops won't be asses.

Local bully + police badge = a$$hole = power trip = future police brutality

It's that whole cycle of violence between police and criminals. Here in LA the police is just another gang with their own colors.

You ever notice a bike taking off at a light? Most of them take off pretty freakin fast, and you don't see cops pulling them over. My car is red - loud - and i'm young with a nice car... no disrespect but are you guys all old because i was't expecting responses like this. We could talk about this all day but the bottem line is and i THINK most will agree that must cops are arrogant and the fact that i KNEW he couldn't prove anything and he WAS infact arrogant, made it amusing to me, so i thought i would share it.

I've never been to Cali but i have a pretty good idea of what they are like so i think i'll stay on the east coast. Cops usually are not that bad where i am. They're pretty laid back, so when we do get a live wire they really like to screw us.

I get away with murder soemtimes i know but i don't like to be harrassed when i'm not doing anything wrong. (In my eyes)

ah hell nah.

unless they get an accelerometer on me and can show that I accellerated more than 10 mph per second or somthing, then how do I know that they didnt just ticket me because i'm young and my hat's on backwards? Any law that just lets the cops say "gee son, that's too fast for you" is going to see my ass in court.

Slidewayz, you're free to do as you choose, nobody here has said anything against YOUR actions. Make your own choices, be happy with them, but don't be surprised when someone (like a cop) disagrees.

Heck, you said it yourself:

but i don't like to be harassed when I'm not doing anything wrong. (In my eyes)
Good luck getting every cop to see things from your eyes
