Has anyone purchased this? from Gtech
yes jeff, you are right, but that is with the old GTECH PRO, however, the new one is self leveling, so there is no need to make any adjustments....stick it to your windshield and go.....here is the quote from the web site.....
"The G-TECH/Pro COMPETITION is auto levelling. You can orient it any way you like with absolutely no degradation in performance. This is a new feature not available in our original G-TECH/Pro"
Hope this helps....

Bumps don't bother these things as much as you think. If you sample fast enough from the Accelerometer, or Filter the output of the Accelerometer you can get fairly accurate readings. I was able to make my own GTech meter in college and the speed on the display was accurate all the way to 140 MPH, and that was with me shifting like a crazy man (each shift introducing a huge jolt to the meter). I put this thing together in a matter of months, since GTech has been doing this for years I'd imagine their unit is reasonably accurate. Is it as good as a dyno or a drag strip? Well no, but still it is accurate to within the tolerances they advertise.
As far as using GPS to track speed, I was under the impression that GPS still has a certain amount of error introduced into the signal to prevent people from using them against the US. If that error could be calculated and taken out, I'd be willing to accept that a GPS system is better than the Accelerometer system, but not by much since the Accelerometer system is fairly accurate, especially a 3D gyro enabled system.
On a side note, airplanes use 3d gyros, GPS, and locating beacons to keep track of location, so I think G-Tech's ideas are good.

The Gtech pro is awesome....highly recommend. The HP and torque figures can be wack but over all They are pretty close ...the times for 0 to60 1/8 mile and 1/4 mile are very consistent. The horse power is best if its done like a real dyno ...go easy in first ..and second then floor third from down low up to red line.....this gives it a broad spectrum to work with
also your hp and torgue numbers will be lower than a real dyno for the fact that drag is having an effect. The shift light is cool and works well.

What about Apexi's Rev/Speed meter W/G-sensor.....is 300 bucks, but looks cooler IMO, anyone play with one of these? I plan on geting one before the first auto-x this year, for the Lateral/Horizontal G's, will look great for Video
