Has anyone substituted a remote for dash controls?
Where did you get the PAC unit from? The reason this was a concern was because my audio store told me that Lightning Audio now have a module designed for the S2000. It would operate with any Apline and Sony unit. The bad news is that is cost 300 cdn. That is more that half the price of the head unit!!!!
I have a friend that is an audio installer so I will go the way of the PAC unit and MacGyver's specs.
Thanks for you help.

The cost is EASILY less than $50 in the U.S.
Any installer can order a PAC SWI-3 module (converts resistance of the remote controls to IR signal for your new head unit) from HP Distributing at 800-395-2927. They quoted a price of about $38.00 for one, down to $32.00 ea. for ten. If the installer is in California he might have to pay sales tax, I'm not sure about elsewhere. USPS Priority Mail costs about $5.00 and UPS is slightly less.
The other components required for installation have been posted in other threads and their cost really is minimal.
If you are using a professional installer I would DEFINITELY recommend this route to preserve the use of your controls with a new head unit.
Even if you are installing your new headunit yourself, you should be able to add the PAC without much trouble, thanks to MacGyver's excellent instructions, and the advice of other S2000 owners here on the board.

People!!!
I just wanted to know if anyone could live with the remote. I guess not. In that case I will be getting the PAC unit where ever it is sold the cheapest (help).
No offense pinky but with the Canadian dollars as garbage as it is your mod will be costing me around the same price as the lightning audio mod. I am in no way trying to step on your toes and if I was in the States I would probably get your mod but this cost difference I cannot ignore.
I will be talking to my installer and showing him MacGyvers directions and get his take on things.
LATEOTT if I call that number will I recieve the unit at that price.... 38.00 U.S.
Thanks for all your help!!!
