Has anyone used a freight shipping service?
Hmm. Sounds like the bus really is the best option for you. Or find some local guy with a private plane who is willing to fly you directly from Anderson. It won't be cheap, but it would be an adventure. And private pilots are often looking for other people to pay for their flight time.
My experience with towns too small to have their own commercial airport is that they also don't have one-way rental cars available.

Greyhound...right...
You should not be so quick to put your nose up in the air over the bus, they have their place. I took a bus 1-way, a little over 300 miles to pick up my car once the cage builder was done with it. Although the bus ride was not the most fun thing, the bottom line was I knew during the whole trip that the following day I was going to have not only my car back, but a nice long ride home to enjoy it. In fact, that might bave been the most enjoyable bus trip of my entire life.

Funny, but I think I'd rather wait than take a bus. Not a bad idea though. Maybe I should look into hot air balloon travel.
But I guess beggars can't be choosers right?

You do realize that some people take a bus on a daily basis, right?
Ok, Just to kill this whole 'Take the Bus' idea and to let people know that I'm not trying putting my nose in the air--I did a fare search.
$70 one-way.
The train fare I found was $55 one-way.
A rental car I found was $35. However, I have to call and find out if I can drop it off in Raleigh.
In other words, the bus is more expensive and it takes 2-3 hours longer than train or renting a car.
And I'd like to reiterate to those of you that aren't reading all of my posts, I am not necessairly looking for the cheapest method. I just don't want to get hosed paying a fortune for a freight service (and potentially damage my vehicle) when I can do things more cost effective.
Thanks again for everyone's input.

Jesus Christ, you'd think taking a bus meant a guaranteed gang rape and mugging by your reaction.

I have friends that do it, and almost all of them complain about it. Some have felt unsafe, however a majority of the time they complain about how dirty it is.
But if you read a post I just made, the bus is more expensive than other options that I have.
Also, I am not looking for the most dirt cheap method. I am willing to pay some money to do this. So, I have the right to be selective if I so choose.
Again, I do appreciate everyone's suggestions and ideas. I think I am going to probably try and rent a car if I can get one that I can drop off in Raleigh.
I also did find a few flights for under $200 last night, so I might go that route.
Lastly, the train is only $55 and I have been wanting to take a train for some time now. The only problem is that there is only one time (11:30pm) that I can take the train from Greenville to Charlotte and then to Raleigh. However, I'd have to get a hotel since the train to Raleigh doesn't leave until the following morning.
I'm having the EXACT same problem as you, except the dealer is forcing me to move my car.
I also got a shipping quote for $250, but no one actually has a truck to move it. VERY annoying.
At the end of the day, I think I'll have to pay a buddy to drive me down 7 hrs and then drive it up - but since it's only got summers on, Id have to time a day-2 where there's absolutely NO snow - which isn't happening in NY State and Ontario.
SIGH
Good luck w/ your move BTW.
