Default has this ever happened to you

i have a 2002 s2000 and i just ran it at the track for the first time. My first and second run were fine and on my third run something strange happened. I did a burn out like i did with the other two but i did it longer. i didn't go through the water on any of the runs. i heated them up once and then decided to give it one more dump. when i got to the line i reved it to 7 1/2 grand and dumped. the rpms went to nine grand real quick and then i shifted into second. the same thing. then i let off because i wasn't moving, put it in third and it did it again. i was not moving at all. i got so scared i screwed something up. after waiting until the rpms dropped and like 5 sec later it started driving. i putted to the finish and went to the lanes again. i found out that it was the clutch slipping. the smell kind of gave it away. i am just courious if this has ever happened to anybody. after waiting about an hour i managed to to bust out a 14.31 at 95 mph with a 2.37 60 ft. i know the 60 ft stinks but i was nervous about doing a burn out again because of same thing might happened again. has this ever happened to anybody?

Yeah, i've had that happen probably like 3 times already. You should be able to tell INSTANTLY that something is wrong, since you aren't moving and your rpm's are going nuts, and the back end of your car isnt kicking out a bit. Just push in the clutch right away, let off the gas. Wait til the rpms come down and just do a normal start. Head on down the track, cuz your run is done. When it happens just give up right away to minimize the damage.

You don't really needs a burn out if you're on stock tires. Just past the water box and do a quick spins to get all the debris of the tires and you're good to go.

thank for the information you people gave me. Now i feel better.

if you don't need to do a burn out to heat up the tires, how do you hook to get a better 60 foot. i ran 14.3 at 95 with almost a 2.4 60 foot on the run i didn't do a burn out. do you just feather the gas?
