Default Have a few questions before purchasing a car

ok guys i have a few more questions before i go through with the purchase. First off, its a 2000 s2000 with about 21k miles. My first question is whether there is a webpage on honda where i can put the VIN# in and it will tell me what recalls have been done on it. Because the guy claims the previous owner has done all the necessary recalls. Also the alignment is off, because the car is pulling to the right quite a bit, can hitting potholes and such do that to the alignment? I think it might be due to an accident, but all the vin#'s are on all body panels. Anyways any input would be helpful. Thanks in advance

if all of the vin numbers are on the panels it likely isn't an accident. of course, hitting a curb can really F up the suspension and leave the body intact. Definitely KNOW it can be aligned before buying. Faking those VIN stickers is very, very difficult. I asked a body shop guy if that can be done (not for me!) and he said it's damn near impossible.

Honda's web site (ownerlink?) should be able to tell you recalls. So should a honda dealer.

Make sure a compression and leakdown test are done. If all of the compression numbers are in the same ballpark, it's likely OK. Some testing methods may read low numbers, but it's the consistency across cylinders that matters most.

steven thanks for the response, it was definately the advice i needed

edit:: he has said that his wife was parking the car and hit the curb while parallel parking, would that be enough to cause the misalignement?

thanks again

double edit::::: this is what i got for the history of the car

I don't carry enough speed to knock the car out of alignment when I'm parking.
If she hit the curb hard enough it could mess up the alignment or even bend things.

Since the car has the F20C it's a good idea to have the retainers inspected for the tattle tale signs of stretching. (Do a search for "retainer" if you don't know what I'm talking about here.)

You might ask the seller to pay for the plug TSB as a closer.

honda ownerslink won't tell you if a recall was performed.

Those just mean the VIN is in the range of S2000s which need that recall performed. You have to contact a dealer and have them run the VIN.
