every time i see a stook[and around here ,it's often]the silver air conditioning cannister thingie inside the grill opening reminds me of somone with a tongue stud..[not,of course, that there is anything remotely wrong with that...i mean ,i enjoyed that arquette chick in pulp fiction as much as anybody else...] when i first got my car[now going on a year plus a few months] i stuck a can of cheap flat black in the grill slats and gave it a squirt...bingo!looks more like britany and less like madonna..if you know what i mean...

i agree... have not done it yet, but plan to black that thing out in the future- it does detract from the clean front on look. the black car looks like darth vader with something stuck in his teeth!

I think the cannister is called a dryer/receiver; it removes moister from th AC system. Engineers, true or false?

I've wondered what that is too. It is really ugly. When you sprayed it, how did you avoid spraying the radiator?

The canister is a receiver/dryer. It has a desiccant in it and also provides a surge volume between the compressor and the condenser coil.

I would suggest you brush the paint on versus spraying. I painted mine with brake caliper paint when I painted my calipers, also installed horns at the same time. IMO, the appearance is much better with the canister blacked-out. Here are photos during the work and after.
