So I'm wondering how necessary it is to tape your headlights when you track your car? It's not a race and there won't be drafting. Is this done for show?

Also same question for the area behind your wheels...is this necessary? I can maybe understand if you're autocrossing and don't want a stuffed cone to mess up your paint.
