Default Heater question

Not sure where to ask about this, but my heater doesn't seem to be working. I've checked the fuses and they all look fine. When I turn the knob from cold to hot it doesn't change the air temperature. I recently had a engine installed. Also side note my stereo doesn't seem to be turning on. Can anyone help?

The heater works from having hot water from the engine circulate thru the heater core when you move the knob to "red". If there's any air in the system, water won't circulate thru the heater core.

First thing to check is whether there is air in the system by bleeding the cooling system. Our cars need a specific bleeding procedure to get all the air out--- do a search on these forums for "Billmans coolant bleeding" and follow it. It's easy but you have to follow the steps-- That's the first thing to check for a no heat situation. I'd wager that's your problem.

The S2000 is notorious for difficulty bleeding the cooling system. Several essays here, probably in the maintenance sections.

And a warning, running with air in the lines is a good way to overheat, and ruin your newly replaced engine. You'll know the air is out when the heater can almost burn your fingers. Until then, tread lightly, lest you burn up your motor.

Note that with air on the lines, the temp gauge may not work properly. Engine can be overheating, and gauge not show it. Be especially concerned if gauge seems to read engine is cold all the time.

Car Analogy makes a key point!!! Be careful driving the car until you get the heater working correctly!!

Thanks guys. Temp gauge seems to be working well. I've been babying the car since I got it back. I will look that info up.

Also, take a look to see if the heater blend door moves when you move the knob. The position change will be noticeable. The cable could have been dislodged.

Looks like it was air in it. I bled it a bit and it immediately started to get warmer.
