Thanks for all the info guys.

[QUOTE=tien2,Dec 17 2008, 09:45 AM] I think the lil article regarding heavy knobs is just ridiculous, just another way to promote their knobs; that

Well, I had the OEM (of course), a light weight, and a heavier than OEM shift knob with the history of the S so far. With my experience, I tend to mis-shift more often when the light weight shift knob is installed. I find it easier and less mistake on the heavier knob.

I saw the quote that heavy knobs "are potentially dangerous and bad for transmissions." So I asked TWM about this before I purchased my knob. Here is TWM's response:[QUOTE]The only way a weighted shift knob could potentially affect the transmission is if you have a rear wheel drive vehicle with the shifter mounted directly in to the transmission.

So will a heavier shift knob help reduces the clunky feel when the tranny is cold?

I'm running an OEM 02 knob, and when I leave in the morning, the cold transmission is really clunky getting into gears. I feel a lot of kickback and linkage.

Does a heavier knob help that or is that unrelated?

thanks

I'd say unrelated. I like the feel of the round smooth knob in my hand (sounds nsfw!) and its lower profile. But no real change in the feel of engagement.

Thanks guys. I thought so. Just making sure though.

I think I'm going to go for a black TWM one then. Probably the M1 Abrams.
That's the one I've got. I love it.

I would say it will have an effect, it did on mine. It's just not such a battle to select first and second when cold. It's not night and day, but it helps, definitely. When the tranny warms up, the shifts are like butter. It won't take away the slight clunkiness of the cold tranny, just make it less pronounced.

I just purchased the skunk2 6 speed weighted knob. I had the oem leather before and before that a round knob. This is the best feeling knob ive had on the car. The weight helps with shifting and makes it feel much smoother. With the lighter knobs, i feel i had more of an issue with it being notchy and not going into gear sometimes. Also, it had a tendacy to pop out of gear in 2nd with the lighter knob.

Best 30 dollars I spent. Highly Recommended.
