I just got a call back from Honda. Bad News!
I was supposed to get my car back tomorrow, for the 1-2 Grind Fix, but there is a problem. When they pulled the disk off, the clutch, pressure plate, and flywheel are gone.

Problem one: they were supposed to replace the disk on warranty, but now they say they are not, because they cannot return a completely worn one. It was a noisy spring issue, and not one that involved a completely stripped one.

Problem two: New clutch, pressure plate, disk, and bearing = $645!!
Should I get that, or go to an upgraded one while they have it all apart???
How much would that run me?

I have to call him back today, and decide quickly. I was planning to get my car back for X-Mas, but I guess not.

Who sells the upgraded pieces.
I appreciate any advice. I kind of have to make up my mind quick.

I believe I'd press the issue with your Honda Zone rep. Your dealer's excuse sounds pretty weak to me.

Are you just going to bend over and take it?

It seems like you must be guilty of some really hard driving if you're willing to let them tell you that the clutch wear is your fault.

How many miles do you have on your car?

12000 miles.

In either case, lets say they still replace the disk under warranty. Thats only $83.
The rest is still up to me, right?

Or can I fight that as well.
I don't race my car(other than the occasional street fight). Never been to the track. Please help. I need some advice!

Something is not right here! A worn out clutch disc at 12k! That just shouldn't be. I have a Miata with supercharger that has been driven HARD, even on the track some, for 60k and the original clutch is still good. Either clutch is defective or you are abusing or riding it or dealer is not telling the truth. Have you seen the disc?

I am going there today after work.

He asked if the car is being raced regularily. No way.

I have had a 300Zx with a lot of work, a GSR with many upgrades, and never a problem.
This is not right, but they are not willing to replace it for free.

If they are not going to replace the parts under warrenty, then I would upgrade my clutch and flywheel while things were apart.

I think TODA is the only one with a flywheel, and there are a couple different clutches out.

Just curious but if you replace with an upgraded equipment aren't you allowing the dealer to nullify your drivetrain warranty in the future? I understand that they would have to prove it but it really wouldn't be a big leap for them to say it.

Great news. I spent most of the day yesterday fighting with the dealer.

They called me back halfway through the day and agreed to pay half.
I still said no.
Called up Honda Corporate, and spent some time talking to them.
Finally, this morning, I got a call from the dealer.

Everything will be fixed at NO COST!!!

So it went from almost $800 to nothing. What a scam. They tried to take advantage of me I guess.

Thanks guys. I kept fighting it and it worked.

GOOD FOR YOU!!!! They just dont want to take the hit for the work. Can't blame them for trying but in this case they should have known there was a defective problem and just done the warrantee work from Honda!

Sometimes you just gotta keep fighting and going up and up on the the chain of command!
