I would seriously appreciate any opinion here:
I have previously upgraded my factory speakers to a pair of Infinity 652i's. Although the quality of the sound is much better, I still find that top-down driving at >60mph resulted in undesirable sound levels.
Recently, due to the fact that I have to commute 80 mile/day, I purchased a 89 Integra as my daily car. This car has a deplorable sound system. The factory cassette radio can not tune in any station more than 30 miles away, and the speakers are all possessed by horrible distortions.
I knew I was going to do major upgrades. I have gone out and purchased the following items (all prices with shipping included:
1 pair Infinity Kappa 63.1i - Ebay $124
1 pair Polk DX6 - Ebay $94
1 JVC KD-SX750 4x45W CD-receiver - iderive.com $138
1 Pioneer GM-X544 4x100W amp with crossover - iderive.com $194
At this moment I am pondering the following options and issues:
what car gets what equipment (considering I spend nearly 2 hours everyday with the integra)?
1. s2K: stock head, amp, same spkrs, possible sub?
Integra: New head, new speakers, no amp, no sub
2. s2k: new head, same spkrs, no amp, no sub
Integra: s2K head, new spkrs, amp + possible sub?
Should I get a sub? If so, what's good but not an overkill for a non-audiophile? I'm contemplating between:
1. One 12" sub in small enclosure
2. Two 10" subs in bandpass/ported box
3. Cheaper bass tubes for ease of everything

Again, I appreciate your opinions!

I say go for option 2 with the sub in the back. 1 speaker is never enough for me 10 or 12 gotta go in pairs. Though if you went with a pair of 10's dont do a band pass(to much room) You can do a set of nice sealed powerful 10's and it will sound really nice get you some good bottom end. I miss that in my S.

Im still waiting for the custom enclosure for the S! WHERE THE HELL IS IT!

Pinky,
Thank you! You are a good man!
I agree with your opinion 100%. I'm just a bit reluctant to rip out 2 factory radios as opposed to 1 since I've never done any "head swaps" in my life.
BTW, will I have to purchase harness/adapters from my local stereo shop to put in the new head? I would buy your dash control kit, except I never use those pointless controls.
Speaking of the customer enclosures for the s2k, what about the guy that has all those pictures of mods on s2000fans.com's website... but does not have the story behind it to tell.
Thanks again
