Default Audio Questions from noob to experts

I wanted better sound so I added a high end head unit. I also added front and rear speakers. The sound is still not there compared other cars that have speakers mounted on the rear deck. I assume this is because the way convertibles are there is no "box" effect whereas other cars have the trunk to echo the base.

Would adding a sub be the solution or an amp?

Can someone please list all the parts (amazon preferably) I should buy to get a better base and clearer sound? Also I don't need the best, just for a daily driver so costs should be minimal. Thank you.

sound deadening the car will help alot. especially the doors and speaker mounting spots.

subs can help out with the dynamic range if you are lacking in the low end. but it sounds like you need an amplifier to really driver the speakers with more wattage. are you just using the decks internal amplifier?

Yes, I am using the aftermarket HU amp. I just purchased an Alpine MRV-M250 and a Rockford Fosgate R2 Ultra shallow. Hopefully this is a good setup.

Which HU did you go with? Currently shopping around for one.

It does not take much to add resonance damping to the door and add some other material for a big difference. I did that (per thread), added and new good HU and found I did not need new speakers like I thought I was going to. Huge difference. More bass.

Agree. Quality speakers, properly mounted, and driven by an adequate amp to keep from over driving the radio into distortion and you'll be set.

This:

Mounted in this:

Powered with this (bridged to power above):
http://www.amazon.com/Alpine-KTP-445...ine+Power+Pack

and the Installer wanted to know where I had the 10" sub hidden. Tore the trunk area apart looking for the sub.

add this sparingly in there to cut down the rattling:

Deadening and subwoofer makes BIG difference. I put a Focal IBUS 2.0 behind driver's seat. Works well.
