CBeyond,
I had the same problem after my install. Mirror kept rising up the faster I went. At one point I was going 80 mph and I had to reach out to press the thing back down for fear it would fly off.

It was rising because the white sticky goo on the back of the mirror did not set properly and the mirror was pulling away. I initially made the mistake of trying to evenly spread the goo out over the entire square. Wrong; instead I needed to make a little blob out of it, place it in the middle of the square on the back of the mirror, remount the mirror, then press it down. Stuck just fine after that.

I installed some of the 10 or so that the HouStooks ordered a few years back. Some of them were more difficult than others, but they all came off eventually. This is definitely a great mod.

I found it was ok to get by without the convex mirror. I keep my driver side mirror turned very outward, to catch the blind spot. I have to use this method in conjuction with the regular rear view mirror, but it seems to work. Anyone else ?

I can't get the mirror far enough outward to cover the blind spot. The dealer said there was nothing they could do to help. I'm now looking into the mirror replacement. Otherwise I am heading to Pep Boys this weekend to find a stick-on.

Get the convex mirror. You won't regret it. One of the cheapest, most useful, and safest investments you'll make. I nearly side swiped 2 cars trying to move into the passing lane a couple of times before I got this mirror. Hasn't happened since.
