no,no,no,NO,NO!!!! Gimme that, your going to ruin it!!!!!!

Ok...
#1 Do you have access to an impact wrench?

YES?
Get the next size down socket (13mm, 12 point would work best) , put it over the buggered bolt head and hit it with a hammer. Thus forcing the socket onto the bolt, atatch impact wrench and let'er rip. Try the 14 first, if for nothing other than to further round off the bolt aiding in getting the 13 on there.

NO?
Plan a) Same idea as before, just instead of atatching impact wrench, atatch socket wrench and put a long pipe on the end of the wrench, thus creating a longer handle and giving you more leverage.
Plan b) Go to the local muffler shop. have them get it off, pay 10$ and get a new bolt from them while you are at it.

Hope this helps

Thanks, RossoS2K. I will try the #2 suggestion again tonight. I couldn't get the 13 to seat last night. I've got a good breaker bar, but the damned bolt head is to squirrelly. I did pick up a Gator Grip socket at lunch for 15 bucks, so I'll give it a try. I wish I had an impact wrench...

The Gator Grip should work...it's a great invention and will conform to the buggared edges. My bets on the Gator Grip!

Many of the wise and experienced mechanics in this world have removed bad bolts and can do it without damaging anything. Although you have to schedule lift time and the mechanic, I bet one could remove it in minutes so it won

Haven't tried this before but get yourself a perssurized can of air or better yet a can of the new eco-freon.

The hammering on of a sise smaller socket is a good idea, so maybe even try an American for a slightly smaller size(but not a full mm amaller).

Then spray the dickens out of the bolt head to cool it way down(iced up). Try not to get any on the mounting plate.
(This may shrink the bolt down enough to get it to turn easier).

Then quickly hammer the socket on and wrench it before the cool bolt can chill down the mounting hole.

Good luck.

Retraction of my post above.

On afterthought this probably would not be effective.

Best to try the "hammer on the socket" trick alone, hopefully the bolt is not hardened, as you may split the socket. Also be careful not to damage the drive hole in the socket, lest you can't get the square drive inserted afterward.

Latest observations:

the Gator Grip, unfortunately, sucks major Gator d!ck. I couldn't get a decent amount of grip... even on a perfectly functional bolt.

As for hammering a smaller socket onto the "nub"... forget it. Can you imagine getting under your car, while it's on jack stands, and having enough leverage to whack a socket onto a largr bolt? Not fun.

I'm gonna need professional help, so it looks like I need to cajole a shop into helping me remove it...
