You should read your insurance policy. When you buy collision coverage from your insurer, the coverage provides you with the actual cash value of the damaged portion of your vehicle...hence depreciation. For example if you total your car....they are not going to by you a new one but instead one of like kind and quality. Same year, model, mileage etc...Since your rims needed to be replaced and couldn't be repaired..all the insurance company would owe is the depreciated price of the item or like, kind and quality.

I have USAA and love them.

USAA is not-for-profit and only has you pay enough for them to break even. If they make money, the distribute it to you each year. They pay claims with little resisting, too. They also will fight for you, too. They espeically like to go after slime like State Farm.
I was hoping to qualify for USAA, but alas, prior service in the reserves (now separated) and being a combat veteran apparently isn't enough for them.

In my state an insurance company is permitted to substitute used
or non OEM parts if the vehicle is over a specified age.
A 5 year old car would be such a vehicle. The insured always
has the option of paying the difference if they so desire.

As for those who think insurance is such a rip off, consider this.
The insurance company is taking the risk of you costing them many
hundreds of thousands of dollars in claims if there is a problem.
A few hundred or or a few thousand dollars per year isn't so bad
when you consider the consequences. You may think insurance
is overpriced, and it probably is, until you need it.

Call your provider and find out what the extent of your coverage is.
Only then will you be able to make an informed decision.

Brian, is the insurance company yours or that lady's? Didn't you go to a body shop for the estimate? regardless, they should pay for what is written on papar; am i wrong? If im right, call that lady back up and tell her, "i want full price for the new oem wheels, cause if it wasn't for your stupid ass client, i would be driving my beautiful roadster."

that is serious bullsh*t. They better get you new OEM's. When my car was at the bodyshop, they won't put ANYTHING but oem parts back on.

goodluck bro.
