Help me S2Ki...your my only hope!
Of course you can match yellow. For crying out loud...
I've got a yellow '04, and the front bumper has been replaced once, and re-painted once. both times, the repair blended perfectly with the sheet metal.
2. I work for an earth moving machine manufacturer based in Peoria, IL, and just in case you haven't seen our machines, they're pretty much all yellow. Some of the surfaces are steel, some are aluminum, some are fiberglass, as well as other materials. It is not unusual to see a powder coated piece of sheet metal butted right up to an adjacent piece with alkyd paint, and you can't see the difference. not in the shop, and not in the sun. Can't match yellow... that's a hoot!

You got the expensive part handled...the replacement bumper itself. At this point it sounds like your looking at a battle that's not worth the time and effort involved. It's only about $200 job to paint a bumper, for that amount, I sure as heck wouldn't be make TWO four hour drives....heck 1200 miles is 3 tanks or so of gas (about $100 right there).
I'd still take one more shot at trying to get a concession from them. See if they'll at least split the cost of painting it again and send you a check for a $100 to finally put an end to it.

Hire a lawyer, for GOOD money, to have the car returned, your gas paid for, and his fees paid for. That is the best advice you are going to get. Who else knows what their "inspection" overlooked.
i seriously can't believe what i'm hearing. Not worth the hassle, you just got jipped, it's people that let go of these things that let these problems continue to happen. I don't understand how you guys can take this situation so lightly. Honestly man get a lawyer and do whatever you can to teach them a lesson, so that they don't bully others around. I'm sorry to hear that you're getting the run around. I know i would never let something like this happen to my pride and joy, regardless of whether it's a honda, a geo metro, or a ferrari.
My friend's 01 spa had someone back into his door - and a reputable body shop here in Atlanta painted the door and blended the front fender and back 1/4 panel in Rio yellow on accident - he went to pick it up and they said that it wasn't ready yet and they'd call him when it was ready - but another friend of ours was over there today and told me. Basically they lied to him and are trying to cover for it.
He left a nasty message for them since it was after hours when he found out but they have some 'splainin to do.
Just be happy you're not in his position

It sounds like to me that your being a pain in the ass and they are getting tired of dealing with you.
Painting the bumper shouldn't cost more then 150-200 just go get it done somewhere else. For goodness sake, you didn't purchase a 100K Ferrari its a honda. a MY2 in fact.

Best of luck to you bro.
When I purchased mine, I had somewhat similiar case but not to your
extent. I had a small rock chip on the front which was covered by the
dealer with poor touch up. In addition, my brand new keys looked as
if I was purchasing a 2000 s2k not a 2006. I told the dealer about it
and they were as we all expect them to be. After couple of phone calls
to AHM, this was solved by me receiving a check for a amount of $200.
from the dealership. It did take me a month to get the check but was
it worth it ? hell YES!!! Why ? because I fought for the right cause for
all the right reasons and I came out a Winner! You do what you gotta
do bro and don't let down from what is right. just my 02.

You bought a "used" car that was 4 hours away?
If you hadn't signed the paper work, then why did you take ownership of the car?
If you did sign the paperwork, why would you buy a car that you did not visually inspect yourself? "Honda Certified" is a sales pitch... "does not a good car make"
I'm assuming that the car was delivered to you and to accepted it with the agreement that you would drive it back to them. Why didn't you have them take it back for you and then re-deliver once it was repaired.
I guess I'm confused on how you took ownership of the car and why you had to do all the driving.
Regardless, return the car.... cut your losses.

Yes, it was written into the contract. Included in sale: wash, repair crack in front bumper
If it says "repair crack" then all they are obligated to do is "repair". It looks like they've done that. Obviously to you and me, "repair" means as good as new, but to them "repair" is "repair". They can come back and say, "Since the customer was not happy with our repair option, we went above and beyond and replaced it with new"
Since I am not a lawyer, it's only my opinion. I would strongly suggest consulting a lawyer to see if you have a case. Just playing the devil's advocate here. Good luck!
Why did I buy a car so far away? i live in the middle of no where and I wanted a specific car, an S2000. i drove to the bay area and looked at several before deciding on this one. I did inspect it the night that i first test drove it but some how I missied the crack. I know i could have walked away but most of you know how much goes into buying a car from a dealership; the fast talking, the selling, the paperwork....I didn't want to go threw that again if they were willing to fix the problem correctly. Two managers promised me a new bumper. I think I have a cased for not fixed because there is a legal standard for fixed. It includes blended paint. And it's not cheap! Maybe the place I went to for the estimate was high, but it's in the $700-$1200 range! I'm writing the letter today and calling the buraue of auto repair today. I'll post what happens.
