There is a lesson in this. It shouldn't have taken this long for Maca to get his money. I think we all need to be real careful of whom we do business with.

ralper,

While I'm glad to see Maca get his money (eventually ), we all have to have a certain amount of trust in others. It's for that reason that there will always be thieves. Case in point, look at the recent Helm's manual CD fiasco. Everyone said $18 is a minor amount of money to pay if it doesn't turn out to be true. Well, guess what? they were right! It WAS too good to be true, and unfortunately, several people lost $18 in the process...all from a guy who had an s2kI Age in the single digit range. The prize was big enough, so some felt the risk was worth it.

I, for one, will continue to buy things off of the net, even when I don't know the seller. However, you can bet your sweet rear end I'll pay close attention to who that someone is, and I won't hesitate to string them up when it starts smelling fishy. Maca was extremely patient, considering the amount of money and time involved, and all I can say to that is "Not if it were MY money". I'd be beating down some serious doors

MacGyver

Please don't misunderstand me. I happen to agree with much of what you said. I too will continue to purchase via the internet. The difference is that now having seen what I have seen, I will try to be more careful. Maybe pay more attention to what I am purchasing and from whom.

My point in saying that Maca shouldn't have had to wait that long for his money wasn't to commend Maca's patience (which was commendable) but rather to criticize acer039's behavior. I, for one, don't think that acer039 conducted himself properly.

All that having been said, I happen to agree with you that we still need to maintain a certain amount of trust, and this trust will open the door for the thieves among us.

Where I think we disagree is that I will try to buy only from known sources. For example, I will buy from a S2KI sponsor. I probably will not buy from someone who "out of the blue" posts a thread offering to sell an item. I will probably put more effort into deciding if a deal is too good to be true. If I decide that it is too good to be true, I will walk.

I'm not sure if the people who lost the $18 all thought of the risk. Most of the people probably didn't think it was a scam to begin with.

I still think there is a lesson in all of this, and yes, I still think we will continued to be scammed. I just think that we should try to approach these things with a skeptical eye.
