Default Help with Replacing Soft Top,

Today I woke up and got ready for work. When i got out to go to the car i notice that my soft top has totally been ruined. It had 2 huge slash on side and back and a big sunroof hole in the middle =(. I already reported a claim figuring it would cost me 3000 from dealership to fix. Is it cheaper to fix it on my own and instead of going to the insurance. Anyone have any advice or suggestions on what to do on how to replace my soft top. Any sites to order the vinyl and service cheaper then going to the insurance. Thanks

It can most definitely be done cheaper. Similar Incident with mine about 15 months ago. I bought an EZ-On top from Ebay, and the quality is really good. Replacing the top however, is not easy. I had some guys help me, but I had leaks all over the place. Eventually I took it to an upholstery shop and has them "fix" the top so the leaks would go away. They did a REALLY good job of everything that is visible, but I still gets water in my trunk if it rains. This place was a little "shady-tree" and they charged me as a "favor" (under the table), so I can't complain. Overall, I've spent about $900 and probably 25-30 of my own hours getting it fixed this far. Either way, I could have it looking BRAND NEW if I spent and additional $2100 on it. You should be able to get it all replaced and fixed for about $1500 on the high side.

My top is getting replaced as we speak as well as other little things that were ruined when someone try to break in. I'm only paying the $500 deductible. Is your deductible too high??

I knew they were trying to steal something cause with the sunroof cut i could bearly reach down to unlock the car and when I started my car the left turn signal was on. They probally tried to reach down to unlock the door but hit the turn signal while going down

Yea i'm thinking of gettin the Ez-On or robbins soft top but i dont know how hard it would be if it was doing on your own. I have a few people to help but i dont know how complicated it would be to finish the job rather then bringing it to a dealer. Any suggestion or advice i should take before my insurance comes and estimate the price. (I'm thinking of canceling the claim and self repairing it on my own.)
