Default HELP!!! slipping clutch???

Ok...i've had my s2k for about 5 months now, and i just passed the 10k mile mark. In the time i've had the car, i've only done 1 or 2 6k+ clutch drops, and i never really drive it too hard since it is my daily driver. But just recently, whenever i shift gears and hit the gas, the engine revs up like its in neutral and then it shifts into the next gear at around 6k or so. Clutch going out at only 10k miles??!?!?!? Is this just a faulty clutch? Help me out please...thanks.

It's not uncommon for our clutches to start slipping/wearing out early on...I had the same problem as you at approximately the same mileage. I went in for the TSB work, but that in itself was a big mistake -- chk. out this thread for more details:

Well, i just took my car in this morning for the clutch problem, and the service manager said it will be covered as a "goodwill" repair. Too bad my car will be out for almost a week since they have to order parts..

you know, 10k miles sounds too crazy,.... i am starting to get a little bit of slip in my clutch too.. with only a few high rpm launches... doesnt matter to me though.. at the most it will cost 1k to get a new clutch/flywheel installed.

I guess it depends on how one normally drives as well, even when not clutch dropping. In fact, I think a straight clutch drop may put less wear and tear on the clutch compared to a normal driving situation where you let out the clutch slowly and pour on the power.

I've noticed slipping and a burning smell from time to time. No clutch drops and only 3800 miles!!

Something tells me I'm in for trouble!
