For a small fee, I can stop by there on my way to Canada this weekend and put the smack down on some named people.

Yeah, I'd like to see you get something for your troubles, but I don't see them giving you any extra cash, and the only other things they could offer:
a) free service visits
b) good deal on another car
I don't think you'd want.

spoke to GM, he said they would be wiling to find me a car for wholesale...I said no way don't trust you to do that.

I told hime I felt I had been harmed and should be compensated for damages due to their breach of contract, he said no. Told him he was forcing me to go to an attorney and pursue civil litigation. He said fine go ahead...

It's moments like this I wish I was insanely rich. Not so I could simply buy you one, but so I could drop hundreds of thousands on an incredible legal team just so that smug ass would get slapped around in court. It would be worth the money.

They should AT LEAST compensate you for $1000 considering this was the deposit you would have lost had you broken the contract.

this is really good. Something I forgot to mention him saying, when I said they should in the least compensate me for my lost time, expenses, and opportunity due to them breaching the contract he replied, "I'm not going to pay someone for not buying a car".

I'm sorry to tell you, but given the facts I've read in this thread the dealer is going to be pretty untouchable by the law in this situation. Yes, what they did was unethical - yes, they have some great hours over there - but no, they didn't do anything illegal.

You didn't sign a contract - you signed a purchase agreement (aka "Buyer's Order"), which is more for the dealer's protection than yours. They did not accept your full payment for the car, they accepted your deposit and then rejected it. They may suck, but the only way you're going to hurt them is by disgracing their reputation.

Did you tell them about this thread? I've noticed your story is starting to circulate the Internet - I found it on some other forums via Google.
