How did you come up with this? It sounds like you determined tread width with your OEM tires on the car -- whereas most tire specs are probably measuring tread width to no-load on the tires (other than a rim). So you might not be comparing apples to apples!

Oh, I agree. My measurments were mounted and used the actual contact width, not at all like the specs listed. The idea isn't to match the exact widths but to maintain the ratio. My goal would be to get tires that had at least 1.7" difference in the width specs.

It's not a true apples-to-apples comparison but it should be close enough to be realistic in expectations...
