I offer my sincerest condolences for the family involved. This type of event is something that is heard far to often...

I too believe that punishment for Drunk Driving should be a lot worse than it is currently.

This thread really broke my heart People that drink and drive piss me off!
This is why I'm going to make a real effort to do the charity event for MADD. My thoughts are with sean and his wife. Ever since my friend died last Nov.(not from DUI, but another auto accident) I really look at my life in a different light. I don't let a hour go by without looking at all the positives in my life ( my family). Tell your loved ones how much they mean to you, and keep them close to your heart. Everyone take care this holiday.

to tmkarab and sondra: Maybe we should try to talk to the admins and see if we can get like a paypal account set up and take all the money donated to that account per month and donated it to the mothers/fathers/students against drunk driving organizations. Just an idea

Sounds like that could be doable...I'll give admins a heads up and see what we can do from there

sounds like a plan, and I think that it'd make a great christmas gift to those organizations... plus we can name it in honor of (top's) bosses kid...

Like others have said here, this makes me very upset and a little numb inside. there are two things that we can do during this time of the year:

1. Not to drive anymore than is needed. the more you are out there on the road, the greater your chances of meeting one of these fools on the road.

2. If you throw a party or go to one where you are very familiar with the people there, either be the person at the door that checks people out or ask the host to do it. ( if they are a good host, they will.) You can even offer to allow people to crash at your home, if near by, to prevent people from driving. If you plan to drink, and you do not live near by, give a friend 20 bucks and tell him to go and watch a movie or something, but come and pick you up at the end of the party.

That's my soapbox sermon. I'm done. 2 of my high school peers were killed when they literally broke the car in two after hitting an oak tree. They were drinking and had taken drugs at a party graduation night. I was not close to them at all, but they had a history of wreckless driving while in an altered state of conciousness. (i.e drugs, alcohol, etc...)

Vtecnology........I truley empathize with you and the family of the decesed. take this and do something positve with it. That is the best thing that you can do to honor the memory of the familiy and the 10 year old boy.

I am staying off the road until the travel season has ended fully.

Drinking and Driving has no business mixing. Especially during the holiday, people tend to sip one or two drinks. I know i have been guilty of taking one little sip and getting behind the wheel. I am just thankful that i was well enough to drive but looking at it, i was putting a lot of people in danger, including myself.

If we want to drive dangerously, and get ourselves killed that is our problem, we are stupid but it is our own doing, but when you go and run your car into a van with people going to grandma's or back from shopping, that is just terrible.

EVERYONE!!! don't drink and drive. just be careful out there.... want to see everyone back on the 2nd.
