Chris,

I think this is the perfect time of year to post this and not worry about 'where'... With New Year's Eve coming up, just maybe your post will cause someone to be more aware of the consequences of drinking and driving. I sure hope so.

My sincere sympathy goes out to your boss and his wife. They have suffered what is probably the worst thing that can ever happen to a family. The drunk driver compounds the loss - it is senseless and could have been prevented. They will remain in our prayers.

Be responsible- Do Not Drink & Drive. (period)

For everyone who has been affected by a drunk driver, my condolences.

My senior year in high school was ruined as a result of a drunk driver (who happened to be the PRINCIPAL of a high school and a repeat DUI offender). I am very fortunate to have survived with only a broken back (luckily, I was not paralyzed).

As a result I have NEVER had even so much as a single drink and got behind the wheel. Additionally, I will knock someone out (drunks go down easy) if that's what it takes to prevent them from driving intoxicated. Stay sober, stay vigilant and hug your loved ones often.

If you want to do something that can have an IMMEDIATE impact on the safety of you and your family, write to your local police station and the county police chief and let them know if you've seen even just one guy stumble out of a local bar or club drunk, get into his car (usually a big heavy American car/truck) and drive off. Ask them to step up their presence and pull some of these mofos over.

Seems to me that the police could have a greater impact on safety if the patroled more around bars instead of hiding behind bushes monitoring commute traffic with radar guns...

Maybe we should try to talk to the admins and see if we can get like a paypal account set up and take all the money donated to that account per month and donated it
Maybe we could donate the money to help VTECnology's boss with funeral expenses, future medical bills etc. As a parent, this not only tears me up, but also infuriates me!

Well this is my last kick on this thread to the top.

I sure hope everyone had a safe New Year's Day, and I hope the entire year is a good one for everyone. And please the "Don't Drink and Drive" thing should apply year round! So lets all do what we can to help prevent this type of tragedy throughout this year!!

Happy New Year!!!!
