I was in the city today around 7PM when it was starting to get a little dark. I turn on my lights and my HIDs didn't come on. I freaked out but they soon came on after like 5 seconds. I turned off the lights and they did the same thing. On the way home, i kept turning them on and off and didn't have the problem anymore.

This has happened once before but the delay was only like a second. I recently did the diffuser mod, but the first time this happened was a while back before the mod was done.

Anyone have this happen to them?

just a side note, don't turn your HID's on and off constantly, it can cause damage to the ballast.

Speaking of which, it sounds like something isn't getting power to the ballasts properly; perhaps it's the switch as if it was a ballast it would only be affecting one rather than both sides...

The HIDs on the S have been known to intermittently fail to turn on (sometimes just one, sometimes both). Simply turning the switch off and on again solves the problem. Also, it usually only happens a few times on a particular car, and then they work fine for years afterward.

So it's nothing to worry about unless it keeps happening. (But as Triax says, if it happens, don't be tempted to keep turning them on and off constantly trying to recreate it! )
