The History Of The Front Grill

You didn't happen to check wind direction either of those two runs did you? This could easily be the cause of the variation don't you think?
Also.....I still don't see the big deal about the car running a few degrees hotter even if your assertions are true. Who knows....the stook might actually produce more horspower running 10 deg warmer.

I too bought your grill and love the looks and the way it keeps the bugs & other trash out. I did not have any trouble until this past weekend. Now keep in mind that I live in Texas. I participated in an all day drive/car show for charity. We started out at 7:30 AM and I left at 5 PM. It was mostly just sitting around but there was a bit of driving involved. The temp was around 100 F. the temp gauge did get up to 4 bars while driving in traffic (there were 100 cars in tandem). This was the first time this has happened. There were 4 other S2000s there and no one else had the grill or the increased temp. Therefore it was blamed on the grill.
A couple of weeks ago I went on a run with 6 other S2Ks in Arizona. We started at 2000 feet above sea level and climbed to 7000 (for those who went the full distance)on fantastic winding, climbing roads. Outside temperatures exceeded 100 degrees during portions of the run. At lunch, the drivers were comparing notes and only one saw more than 3 bars on the temp guage. The driver who saw 4 bars drove an S2K with the grille. It would, therefore, be logical to assume that the grille increased the temp in that car above the others...except that another car also had the grille and it never exceeded 3 bars.
SpaceNeedle and KenS2K,
While I appreciate your sensitivity to the matter, I don't think anybody on this board needs to be worried about damaging the business of the sponsors. An honest and open exchange about our products is a good thing. It helps us improve them. And we can't bask in the praise without also expecting some sincere criticism. The comments about our windscreens vibrating at speed, for example, led us to look into solutions, which we've developed. Even the design of the windscreen was influenced by criticisms on this board.
All we expect is fair and open appraisal. You've done that with the McCune grille, which I personally think is a superb, beautifully made product. The jury is still out on the temperature question and I think it's still worth debating. I've posted my opinion (no effect on performance) but that's just a seat of the pants judgment.

Sigh.. do you think i'm that stupid?
There has to be dynos that emulate air flow for more realistic measurements. Of course a grill wont be able to have before/after on a normal dyno. But just like Spaceneedle said, there were considerable temp differences that would result in a lower dyno of the car when the car is up to temp and w/ airflow.
And I know that for a fact VTEC stickers give you better performance on civics so his windscreen should do wonders for our stooks:

Uh.. ya and stuff.

I have 'the grill' and have never seen more than 3 bars, including 2 days of high pref. driving school with continual skid pad/track sessions - only stopping for 1/2 hour for lunch each day. ALSO 'the grill' knocked off a sparrow that was trying to take out my rad - so I will take the 10 degree[?] increase (not actually proven) as opposed to the bird in the grill any day. I also have Mr.McCune's dead pedal and I feel that it is responsible for at least a 5 second a lap decrease in my times - Thanks David!
