Default Hit tire shrapnel on the freeway

Hello All,

Last night I was on the freeway and a pice of blown tire snuck up on me and I ran over it on my passenger side . There was not a lot of damage, but from what I could see, I broke one of the fasteners that keeps the dustguard (?) in front of the tire in place and it came out from behind the front end bumper. Also, there is rubber residue on the passenger side and in the middle of the front end. My questions are these- 1) Does anyone know if this rubber will come out without being repainted? and 2) should I go to a body shop or dealer to have the dust guard repaired? I am not exactly motor inclined to try and do it myself.

Thanks in advance- Chris

Sorry to hear about the trouble with your ride, bro. I had that happen a few years ago with my truck, it scared the crap outta me!

I would certainly take it to a Honda body shop or a good alternate shop in your area to have the work done. They may be able to salvage it without repainting, however everything I have read the paint on the S is very thin compared to most cars.

I would also have the fender well and splash panels checked, and the if it broke the deflector under the front right I would also have that replaced.

Also don't forget to check with your insurance company, they may incur a substantial portion of the cost.
