Answers to above questions:

1. Can I lock things to the rack? Thule has an eyelet to run a cable through to the bikes can be secured that way. Not a very secure method, but, it is a deterent.

2. Cost: $500 plus WA state tax.

3. Ease of removal - Difficult part is getting uder the car. I am kinda small, so I dont need to jack the car up. Three safetly/cotter pins are easily removed to pull out the bolts. The hitch slides right out or into place.

4. It does stick out a bit. But, its the best thing out there at this time.

I was Doug's S2000 hitch guinea pig, and I couldn't be happier with the hitch, or with Doug's service.

As for ease of removal, I'm big (6'2"), and, by subsitituting beefy cotter pins for the safety pins Doug supplies for the two connections near the tail pipes, I can easily remove the hitch without jacking the car, in perhaps 30 seconds. I have to jack up the car to install the hitch.

Doug has pictures on his site of the insallation on my car.

I have no doubt that Doug's solution is the best there is out there.

Nice <bike> Wheels! Didn't think I would compliment someone on their bicycle on this forum.

Which has more trunk space? :-)

If you looked at my homepage where I posted pics of the hitch install and bike rack, go back and look again. I returned the THULE rack that I posted because it stuck out too far. I was worried I would scrape it when I would go up steep inclines.

I got a YAKIMA rack instead. The design of the receiver is very different and now there is no concern about hitting hte ground.
