So I get a call at home last night. The nice lady on the phone tells me that Honda R&D is sending some reps to my area (L.A.) to talk to S2000 owners. They're looking for a group of 15 or so owners to discuss "their car and its future development". Would I be available on the 21st to talk with them?

[Sheyaah, like I'd miss that!] Um, yeah, I think I can free up some time.

Great, she says. Oh by the way, you're between 36 and 55 years old, right?

Umm...well...actually...um...I'm 29 but...

Oh, sorry, then I don't think we can use you...

D'OH!!!

So after getting over my near-miss (why couldn't I just lie??), I figure they must be doing some market research into a mid-sized luxury RWD sport sedan to compete with the 3-series, 5-series, Lexus GS, Audi A6, etc. After all, it's no secret that the S2000 powertrain has been envisioned as a platform for a 4-door sedan. They'll probably be asking about these owner's preferences regarding drivability (low-end torque), fuel consumption, emissions, luxury, etc. But I could be wrong...

So, anyone else gotten this invite? Any competing theories? I'd love to hear a report from anyone who goes, though I suspect they'll have to sign their life away in non-disclosure agreements...

John

LOL! Me too!!!

Have you ever earned $200 for just sitting in at a closed user group marketing session? I wish I could do 10 of those a week! They pay cash too! NO TAXES.

I think I'll have to tell a little white lie too.

I think I'll call my buddy up to try to find out what this is all about.
