Honda Service Issue
Hey all...Let me give some backgound info....
My car was in for service this past week to perform the Spark Plug recall and Taillight recall.....ALso, I had the dealer look try to figure out what was the cause of a rattle I was getting when decelerating as well as holes forming in my top.
Of course, they fixed the taillight situation and spark plugs but said I needed a new clutch for $1100 (as this was their diagnosed cause of the rattle) and gave me the phone # for a shop to patch the top.
Well while they were working on my car, I got on this site and managed to find TSB-054 which talked about a clutch buzz which I figured to be the cause of my problem. I told the dealer this when I went to pick up my car and he said since the clutch is a 'wear' item, it would not be covered with my HondaCare warranty.....
So I ask him, what about the part on the TSB where it says..."If your customer had the previous clutch disc installed but still complains of deceleration noise, install the clutch disc listed in this service bulletin".....
And he says 'Well, we would replace it if that was the case but your car has never had any warranty work done on it before (meaning I never had 'the previous clutch disc installed).....'
Apparently, Honda uses a computer program called "ISIS' or something like that which shows any previous warranty claims....When they put in my VIN, nothing came up at all; but I was 100% sure I had previously had the 1-2 grind taken care of at a Honda dealership, among other things, under warranty.
So he tells me to contact the dealership where I had those warranty issues resolved and bring him back 'proof'....So, this morning, I drive over to the other dealer and ask them for a copy of my service records, and they tell me 'According to their records, I have never been there before'!!!!! At this point, I was really frustrated.....
So I go back home, and manage to find a copy of the invoice where I had the 1-2 grind fixed at the dealer who says I had never been there before. I take a copy to the original dealer, who had told me they could fix the buzz if it was a result of previous warranty work AND now they changed their mind and tell me 'MAYBE'...I don't understand the antics of Honda Service....They're computer info is screwed up; they sent me on a wild goose chase to bring them the verification they asked for; they completely thought I was lying to them about having done work on the car; IT SUCKS.... now, I have to wait till Monday for them to make a decision while at the same time I am trying to figure out why all my service records mysteriously disappeared.....
At one point, a sercice rep asked me "Well, why should we believe you when the computer is already telling me..."...WTF?

Since you're in FL, pls post what dealers you are talking about so I know NEVER to go to them.
In all honesty, when he told me that the TSB 00-054 would be covered if the prior warranty work showed up, he probably thought I would in no way be able to provide an invoice of the repairs actually being done. He trusted what his screen was telling him.
Classic Honda is the dealership which all my prior service records simply disappeared. I called them this morning to see if it would be possible to come in and get records. I was told that I would need to bring in my driver's license and proof of ownership. When I got there, I was not even asked for either. I gave them my VIN and last name and they could not find anything in the computer at all. Once again, go figure!
The weird thing is that I have been there on several occasions. It is crazy that I have in my hands an actual 3 pages of invoices of services performed there and they flat out say I have never been there for service.
