Default Honda Warranty

My current warranty will end in the next couple of months, but I have the option of extending it for another 3 years. I'd have to pay $1,500 for the extended warranty. What do you guys think; is it worth it? So far, the only thing I had brought it in for was some hardtop rattle and just recently a cracked plastic piece below the tach.

Totally a subjective call that you need to make. If it was universally worth it we'd all have it. If it was universally not worth it none of us would have it.

A couple of ideas- Buy a $1500 pre-paid Debit card and secret it somewhere on the car. Your now traveling with $1500 of insurance in case of breakdown. If the car happens to be stolen, cancel the card.
You could also do this with one ounce of gold at a little more risk but the gamble may actually pay-off in three years.
The concensus for buying extended warranties seems to be a negative and only pays out for a relatively small group of people.

Consider self-insuring.

I have spent $90 in nonmaintenance items for mine in 179K miles.

It really depends what the warranty covers. Is it full drivetrain warranty? In my mind the only way it would be worth it is if something in the drivetrain failed. Aside from that your wasting your money.

Thanks for the feedback. I guess the consensus here is that it's not worth it. I was just curious as to what some have done and if it worked out in the end.

It depends on whether you're a 'car guy' or just someone who writes checks for their car. $1500 buys a LOT of parts; not so much if you're one of those who pays labor to have them installed.
