Hondacare -- A few questions
I found that the extended warranty was a waste. It doesn't cover anything in regards to the top. Also once they hear "S2000" they go over your car with a fine tooth comb looking to deny everything.
I had wear holes in the top, transmission buzz (returned after 1st TSB), LSD clunking, and the straw that broke the camels back was when I went to get help with my car stalling and not holding idle. ALL DENIED DENIED DENIED! NO SOUP FOR YOU!
They wanted to charge me several hundred dollars to find the problem and if it was a warranty item the HondaCare(less) would cover it.
My experience is that the extended warranty is useless. I wonder if you actually use it if the person who sold it to you has to return the comission?

Let me preface my post with this. I am a lawyer working for a firm whose primary practice consists of defending auto dealers from consumer claims against consumers for all sorts of reasons from slip and falls to breach of purchase contracts and warranties. The extra warranties purchased with a used vehicle are good for what they cover. However, with that being said, one of our biggest complaints is, "the salesman told me this is a bumper to bumper warranty." These extended warranties are not "bumper to bumper warranties." Carefully read your warranty plan that is offered you. The manufacturers and the dealerships make money on offering and selling you limited warranties on those items that probably won't break. How else could they make money selling warranties. And they do look for ways to void your warranty with the S2000 as well as other "tuner cars." How can they void your warranty. If your read all the fine print in the warranty it will tell you. Consequently, if you modify your car after you signed a warranty that says modifications void the warranty how can you complain. The reason everybody gets pissed off about a voided warranty is because, and I am guilty of this as well, people just do not read what they sign. The law says we are responsible for the contents of a contract even if we do not read it. This is fair. Otherwise a contract would not be worth the paper it is written on. In my opinion the best thing you can do before you purchase the car is take the car to a reputable mechanic for a presale inspection. Most car dealerships won't object to this and if you find anything wrong with the car, they will fix it without adding to the original bargained for purchase price. Almost all the consumers I have defended dealerships against could have avoided all their problems if they had done this. Bottom line, READ EVERYTHING CAREFULLY before you sign, because you are for the most part buying the used car "as is." It will say so in your paperwork, guaranteed.

Anyway to return or cash out the honda care warranty? Also what about the certified used car 7yr 100k warranty? if i was dumb enough to buy the hondacare warranty is that on top of the certified thing?
Does anyone have any good experiancese with third party companies? My credit union offers one and I think I'm going to look into what they offer. I figuree it has to be decent b/c otherwise the credit union would have an uproar (as its run by its members).
It is true that customers don't read the fine print, but, the problem is not the fine print. The problem is that it is known that these aftermarket warranty companies try and succeed in getting out of paying for claims that should according to their own rules.
As a shop owner, I can tell you they play these games and try their hardest to cheat me and the customer in the claims. Not all the companies try, but many do and that is what I am pointing out.
The main point is that many of these companies are using any invalid reason to try and cheat the customer by denying valid claims.
This has been documented in news stories, etc...
As pointed out by the lawyer poster, it doesn't help that dealership employees frequently lie to the customer in order to make the warranty sale.
