One more that wouldn't fit.

The installation of the harness follows the factory harness back to the fuse assembly.

Maybe nothing, but there are two things to consider. 1) The car is wired with the smallest size wire to carry the projected load so the larger horn sets are actually pulling more current than the wire is rated for. 2) The horn circuit is not dedicated and has some critical components on it (ABS, brake lights, ECM) so it is important not to lose it.

The Hella dual-tone horns I installed blew the fuse anytime I used the brakes and horn continuously for a second. I decided it was worth the hour to put in another circuit and a relay. And since I can now deliver full power to the horns they may even be a bit louder.

It still seems like we should be able to use the stock relay, but run a new power wire into it from a new fuse. I can't imagine the small-guage stock wire leading to the horn is really going to melt since there is a max. of 20 amps running throught it. Although I don't know if its possible to route a new power wire into that relay or not.

As far as the fuse, we could either use a new inline fuse holder, or maybe we could somehow use the existing but unsued fuse holder for the fog lights. The important thing is not to use the power wire from the stock horn/brake/etc. fuse.

Problem is, I couldn't find it. Unless the relay is at the front of the car, it is much easier to run a wire from the battery to the stock location. Added bonus, the factory harness is for the most part intact and the factory horn can be reinstalled. I didn't use the factory fuse box because I didn't want the run the risk of screwing something up.

Nothing to do with the thread but everytime I see Bigal, I think Bi-gal. I need to go home, stop working, and get some sleep. Sorry Al, but it just looks weird to me.

Dan,
There is nothing wrong with Bi-gals. Maybe you should try one and report back on what you discover.

I think what we need here are step-by-step instructions of installing replacement horns. The instructions at S2ki are vague and are not straightforward.

Any takers?
