I'd guess that would be the max.. probably less than that (depends upon voltage).

Since the current through the wire is not continuous, I think 20 amps through 16 gauge wire is fine even with ambient temperatures above 30 C (86F). I'm just guessing though. The reason amps want heavier wire is to minimize the voltage drop and source impedance.

Do you mean to say you used the existing
stock wires/relay and just replaced the fuse from 10A to 20A?

What kind of horn did you install?

Thanks!

I checked the instructions and my receipts, and found that I did use 14-guage wire.

A few other details:

In contrast to Brent's installation, I placed the relay over against the passenger side fender, out of the airstream (and the wet). I had to run an additional length of wire from the Honda horn circuit to get there, but thought it was worth the extra trouble to keep the relay dry. Perhaps with 12 volts it doesn't really matter.

I mounted both horns on one of the AC condenser bolts, and left the trumpets facing at right angles to the airstream instead of directly into it.

Like I promised, I have my installation page up and running. There is no one right way to install the horn, this is just the way I did it. If you hear of or want to do something a little different, by all means improvise. I got very detailed, but I might have missed some steps. If I did, send me an email and I'll fix it.
