How come people are hesitant to let others know
It seems that finding out how much a paint job cost someone, then finding how much they paid for a part is harder. I'd just like to get an idea why people are hesitant to throw out what they paid for a paint job. It doesnt seem like theres the same problem when its a part, aftermarket part...etc. I ask this not to hate on the people that dont offer it out, but i'd just like to know some of the reasons. I find this information can help out the community since it will share prices, and average prices of what some types of paint jobs go for.
I by no means am trying to step on anyones toes and cause an arguement.
Thanks
John

^^Paint jobs vary in price, and the VALUE people put on their paint shows. Some people are happy with a $800 job, and others wouldn't be satisfied with anything short of a $4000 job. And this being the internet, there's always going to be someone looking to poke fun.
Person A: "I paid $1800"
Person B: "You got ripped off"
Person C: "Why so cheap? A GOOD paint job costs $XXXX"
Person D: "For that amount they should've done a better job"
Person E: "You could've sold your car and bought the right color for that amount"
See, if you don't tell, you avoid all of the above people . If it were me, I'd give a ballpark number, and not really lose any sleep over what anyone else thinks. But that's just me.

I believe the reason some people are not so willing is because more than likely they got hooked up by someone they know, if they say I got it for XX dollars then everyone would expect to pay that amount. Most paint shops are in business to make money, and like someone already said, where you live, color, amount of prep work involved, some places are more some are less. But if I got a killer deal from a friend, he probably would'nt want me telling everybody because "everybody" else are just customers, at regular price, and I would'nt know regular price,

I have a friend that is doing a resto 70 camaro, he is paying 9k for the paint job.
My brother had his 95 civic painted for 6k, This included the body work and the mounting of the body kit. The color was diamond pearl paint with read, blue, purple, and green flake. This all happend in 96. This was the fll deal, engine bay to trunk and door jambs.
I had my 95 integra re-cleared for $100. I got hooked up becuase the guy was my uncle, he does classic resto's. Top quality.
