We have been constantly bitching about the plastic rear window and the lousy stereo ever since this board's inception. Honda has been listening and is trying to accommodate us, don't you think?

 

if they really wanted to accomodate us, they'd bring out the type r version right now! why make us wait so long???

 

Geez people, quit whining about a color and a little jewelry and just drive the damned things! If this car is all about the performance, then who gives a rats ass what color somebody else is going to be able to buy the car in? Mine could be primer grey w/crap brown streaks - it'd still be fun to drive. It's not like Honda is going to recall your S2K and paint it Suzuka Blue at gunpoint, nor will they force any new buyers to buy it...

As for the glass rear window, they're responding to what is probably the #1 gripe with the car. When the S2K came out, it's 'competition' had plastic windows, now a few have moved to glass. I've had both, and believe me, Glass is the only way to go.

And the interior - how many times have you heard on this board that the console should have been leather to begin with? I've seen words like 'oversight', 'cheap', and 'inexcusable' to describe the carpet console cover. Ditto the lack of tweeters...
Oooohhh, Honda listens to it's customers, wht a shame! They've probably added 12-15lbs to the car too! Whatever will become of this car....

You seem to be overlooking the most important aspects of a drivers car - They didn't touch the suspension or tires, they didn't 'civilize' the powerplant, and they've improved the tranny. None of this really seems like a crime to me!

I agree with drogers 110% .. people were complaining about the cheap interior and how the plastic window is sooooo hard to take care of...
and when honda listens to their customers for the 2002 year model people complain about how they like the cheap interior so much better and the plastic window is so useful..

sounds very hypocritical to me..

also for the color? it's not like honda has discontinued all the other colors and suzuka blue is the only color available now..

 

Well, maybe Honda shouldn't be listening to the people who have been complaining about the plastic window and carpet console cover. I'm just glad I was able to get mine when I could, because personally, I don't think I would want an '02 model. The chrome appointments in the interior look completely out of place, and cheap on top of that. The window has been cut in half, and although visibility might not be hampered too much, it looks pretty silly with the top half being window and the bottom half being vinyl. Most cars I've seen that do have glass rear windows have at least made a point to center them. As for the radio upgrade, I don't care, I listen to the engine. As for the console cover, I think the carpet gave the car a sportier, more stripped down look. The new model hasn't changed that much, but the changes that have been made are ones that I'm glad I don't have to live with......which is just another reason to take care of the one I have now.

 

Yeah, I'm tired of all the complainers out there too. All honda is doing is making more features available for people. If you don't like any of it then don't buy it. If you don't have a < 2002 s2k, I'm sure it wouldn't be tough to retrofit < 2002 parts to make it look like one if you think it's that horrible. And have you ever thought about why they CAN'T center the glass window? the top mechanism is probably still the same, hence it has to fold in the middle (or somwhere close to the middle). Rick's console cover was an addition that helped complete the car, the carpet isn't too bad, but the leather is so much better. There seems to be more posts about complaining that I'm having difficulties finding good posts. So Stop.
