Default how is the CR as a DD ?

i would imagine it's a pain in the a$$ since it's top up or off right?
the stiff suspension is not a big deal to me, i'm used to that.

does it suck not being able to just put the top down when you want?

i'm looking at leftover 08 stock and the CR's w a/c and radio are going for
2k below a base right now.

i am also considering an 09 miata as they have 5k off msrp. i can get a fully loaded gt with sport and premium package for 24k (29k msrp)

but a CR for a few grand more is the better deal

any tips on living with the CR everyday ? and no it wouldn't be a garage queen,
it's mean to be driven.

We drive ours everyday, unless we need to haul something, then we use the ridgeline.
The only thing I can complain about is that both dogs can't ride at the same time....

no different from when i DD my AP1. i even have a lil bit more sense of security with the HT.
i do miss being able to drop the top at a moments notice but it's not that bad.
what i REALLY miss is the tail happy raw feeling of the AP1. it forced me to be more alert while driving.
the lack of a spare tire also gives it a bit more trunk space. i no longer can use the excuse, "we don't have any room in the trunk" when taking the GF shopping.

From what I hear it's basically the same as a normal S...but I agree with you about having no soft top that would get to me.

I drive my AP1 with the hardtop on for about 90% of my driving. It's great, less cabin noise, higher security, and it really changes the look of the car. IF I had a chance at a CR, I'd do it. I'd definately do it over a Miata.

so if anyone has taken a trip with their CR
do you just take the hard top off and store it in the hotel room
when you want to drive around with the wind in your hair?

At the dragon this year I had my passenger/codriver help me move the top into the cabin every morning before we went on a drive and back on the car every night before calling it a night. Kind of a pain but worth it. I also knew my day wouldn't every be away from the car and that it wasn't going to rain.

some people don't use the S as a convertible hahaha

that said, if you ever want to go somewhere with the top off, just buy one of those temporary covers and throw that on when you need to leave the S. if you're getting a really good deal on the CR why not?

Again, not only people with CRs can help you here. Many of us have hardtops, and some even removed their soft tops completely so it's the same situation as a CR. In all honesty this would be completely up to you...the owner. However if I was going for a trip in a CR I would just leave the hardtop on. I know right now it might seem like you'd need to use the S as a convertible at all times, but trust me when you own one you don't always want the top down. The car looks very complete with the hardtop...especially the CR.

I thought I would really miss the vert on a daily driver. Turns out, not so much. I daily the CR and love it. I have not removed the top in the four months I've owned it. I still have the AP1 for weekends, though.
