How do they do it?!
I never really paid that much attention before, but I recently noticed, on the Spoon S2000 video, that these professional drivers would turn their right foot sideways, and step on the brakes and the gas at the same time. What's the purpose of doing that?
Yeah, just to elaborate, the reason one heels and toes is so that you can be in the right gear when you are ready to power out of the corner.
You can't just downshift and let the clutch back out. What happens is you get compression braking which is hard on the engine, clutch and drivetrain. Not only that, but it upsets the balance of the car, and can cause the back wheels to lock up, not exactly what you want when you are diving deep into a corner.
While braking, blipping the throttle raises the revs. When they are high enough, you can release the clutch and have no engine braking occur, saving wear and tear and keeping the car's balance.
Everyone with an S2k should learn this technique, as the pedals are positioned very nicely for this kind of driving.

It should help to explain the technique. It's excellent fun when you get it right. This is one of the main reasons why I will not buy an automatic car!!
Cheers,
