i pretty much just press straight up since it already wants to go into 3rd

 

I have a voodoo knob, so I pretty much just palm the shifter forward and it slides right into 3rd.

 

i do it this way....

up, up, down, down, left, right, left, right, B,A,B,A select, then start....

it gives me 3rd gear ever time....

but in all honesty i had an issue with going form 2nd to 5th but this is because i was not used to a short shift compared to my Audi i used to have. After 3 hrs i adjusted to the car so speed shifting, to thrid does not bother me.

the only thing that is bothering me is i drive the car as a 5spd i always forget about 6spd. that will probably take some time to get used to pulling the lever down after 5th.

I think that's the ol' trick for infinite lives for Contra III on Nintendo lol...I'll never forget that.

As for the shift, has anyone ever accidentally gone into 1st? I haven't, it's kinda hard to goof up unless you knowingly force to the left. Who would do that is beyond me

 

I was wondering too, but figured it must be some type of self-gratification.

 

this is what I do, way faster shifting and the shifter spring helps in the movement.


I think the notch that people feel has nothing to do with how to get into 3rd but more timing of the revs and clutch work.

..anyways back on topic, if you shift slightly to the left, that's more towards first gear though, maybe i understood you wrong

 

WOW i would have thought that 99.99999% of the human population would know about that legendary code for Nintendo's Contra...

hmm....

but yes it's for Nintendo's Contra i think it's also for another game that Capcom made for nintendo.

Down, R, Up, L, Y, B, or X, A, something like that... it's been a while for the supernintendo version but my nintendo still works and i still play contra just for kicks.
