Try using one of these
now and then, will ya?
You're gonna get these guys all worked up.Back to the topic at hand. Shifting any manual car is dependent upon how you are driving the car at the time and what you are trying to do. If you are just leisurely tooling around town, you won't be using heavy throttle and thus would be more likely to shift at lower rpms. If you are trying to motivate the car more briskly, you might get into the throttle a little deeper and thus hold that gear a bit longer before shifting. If you are "really giving her", then you are going to be deep into the throttle (WOT maybe) and you will hold your speed till the engine gets near or right at redline before you shift.
So, asking how to shift this car and hoping to get specific numbers is kind of an unrealistic expectation. This comes with experience (hands on). You will know by "tach" and by feel and by sound when to shift once you get more familiar with your car. The suggestions offered in the owner's manual is purely for fuel economy purposes and is only "guide".
For example, if you go WOT to accelerate but then shift at 4000 rpm every time, you may end up breaking something or at the very least putting undue wear and tear on the power train for the sole purpose of getting to 4000 rpm quicker when you really don't need to.
